I'm a stay-at-home mother of three and a former CPA. For years, I tried to find a jewelry organizer for business and leisure travel. I tried many styles—jewelry rolls, jewelry boxes with compartments, jewelry storage with zippers. You name it! At one point, I even packed my jewelry in Ziploc® sandwich bags! Nothing worked. Nothing kept my necklaces and fine chains from tangling in knots. It was frustrating!
My big idea is a portable jewelry case that fits in a carry-on.
In 2007, I went on vacation with four jewelry ensembles—necklace, bracelet, earrings and ring. I'd already tried everything for travel—the zippered pouch, the drawstring bag, the hard jewelry case with all the compartments. Nothing worked for me.
The best thing I could come up with was a flimsy box with a rubber band around it. When it was time to decide what to wear with what, I had to take everything out of the box just to see my choices before I got dressed. I thought, there has to be a better way to protect my jewelry when I travel.
That's when I got the bright idea. I visualized a portable jewelry case with accordion expansion that held individual pads to secure and protect several jewelry ensembles. To keep necklaces and pendants from tangling!
A year later, I made it one of my goals to approach QVC to determine if my idea was feasible. I prayed to God for guidance, and a link on the QVC site led me to Everyday Edisons, a company that produces a TV show featuring ordinary people with their new ideas. And to my amazement, they were having a casting call in the area in just two days!
My Portable Jewelry Case is a fresh new take on jewelry organizers.
I stayed up all night before the audition with a friend making a working model out of construction paper. Soon I was standing before four judges making my presentation. The judges concluded that my product was an innovation, not an invention, since travel-sized jewelry cases already exist, however they confirmed that it was a viable product. There was nothing else like it on the market! As if I didn't know!
My prayers for guidance were answered again when someone put me in touch with the retired marketing guru behind Mr. Coffee. He helped me line up manufacturers, attorneys, designers and freight companies. Today, I can offer portable jewelry cases to women who want something stylish, sophisticated and totally practical to keep their jewelry safe, organized and easily accessible when they're on the go.
My Portable Jewelry Case will make a difference to women who've left abusive relationships.
I donate a portion of every Diva Deluxe™ and Diva Lite™ sale to Haven House of Atlanta, a local nonprofit organization that supports and empowers women who've been in an abusive relationship. I hope to use the Diva Deluxe™ and Diva Lite™ not only to make your travel experience easier, but also, to make a difference in the lives of women who need to know someone cares. I'll make a contribution on your behalf when you email or fax your name, email address and a copy of your receipt.
